Resumption of production in Turkey is aimed from the beginning of July 2017 – Personnel safety has top priority

Gränichen, Switzerland, 14 June 2017 – After a production stop that began on 31 May 2017, the Zehnder Group aims to restart production in Manisa (TR) from the beginning of July 2017. The reason for the production stop was the stronger earthquakes that were recently recorded and the related assessment of the safety of the production building.

As a result of repeated stronger earthquakes in the region around the Manisa production location in Turkey, the Zehnder Group had imposed a production stop as of 31 May 2017 and ordered that the state of the production building and the safety of the workers be checked. Structural reinforcement measures have been initiated for the production building and are expected to be completed by the end of June 2017. The Zehnder Group aims to resume production from the beginning of July 2017. Customers have been affected by the related delivery delays. The production capacities in Bolesławiec (PL) can be used as backup for limited volumes. “We deeply regret the delivery delays, however, personnel safety has top priority”, assures CEO Dominik Berchtold.

In addition to Bolesławiec (PL) and Vaux Andigny (FR), Manisa is an important production location for bathroom radiators for the Zehnder Group. Production has been carried out in rented premises for over 10 years. In May 2016, the Zehnder Group decided to construct their own production plant, including space for warehouse and logistics operations. For this purpose, an around 40,000 m2 plot of land was purchased in Manisa. Commissioning was planned for 2018, however the beginning of construction was delayed due to the current instability in Turkey.
