Without care and consideration, the manufacture of indoor climate solutions can have significant impacts on the outdoor environment, even as they improve the indoor one. Sustainable business activities are therefore essential for enabling us to continue driving growth and profitability. We are looking ahead to the next stages of sustainable business and are setting our course to net-zero.
To reduce carbon emissions during production, we use our own photovoltaic systems and procure electricity from renewable energy sources such as hydropower. Our locations in Gränichen (Switzerland), Zwolle (Netherlands), Buffalo (United States), and Lahr (Germany) already generate on-site electricity from solar energy, reducing carbon emission and the consumption of fossil fuels.
We’re also working on improving the climate impact of individual products, including phasing out high-GHP coolants, and improving the performance of our heat-recovery ventilation units.
The continuous improvement of the already high quality, service life, and repair possibilities in respect of our products represents another step towards greater sustainability at Zehnder.
We aim to contribute to the circular economy by using more recyclable parts and components in our products, and by investigating business models with circularity at their heart. We examine our packaging and production materials for their recyclable content and have several projects to increase our use of environmentally friendly and recycled materials. In this particular area, we have already delivered successful projects in Canada, the Netherlands, and Germany.
